Susan Gombos, LCSW
Biography
Susan Gombos is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience working with individuals, couples, and families. She is a Board Certified Diplomat in clinical social work. She graduated from the New York University School of Social Work in Manhattan. In addition she has a postgraduate certificate in couple and family therapy from The Center for Family Learning in Westchester County. This training has enabled her to become a highly effective family therapist.
Susan has provided therapeutic services in a variety of settings which include inpatient psychiatric hospitals, public and private schools, and mental health clinics. She has over twenty five years of clinical experience. She has training in cognitive behavioral therapy which is a highly effective method of treating many disorders; EMDR, which is effective with trauma related issues; and emotionally focused couples therapy which is a short term approach to relationship issues.
She has served as a consultant to practicing clinicians and to graduate students. She has lectured on issues related to family therapy to members of the community and to professional groups, and has appeared on local television discussing the topic of family secrets.
Susan is member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the New York State Society of Clinical Workers. She has served as the Chairperson of the Westchester County family therapy committee for many years.
